POSITION OBJECTIVE: Manage and support organizational fundraising initiatives aimed at corporate sponsors, grant makers, and individual donors, working to secure resources to further the goals of American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture (AFBFA).

REPORTS TO: Director, Industry Relations

LOCATION: Washington, DC, ability to earn telework 2 days/week

SALARY: $73,000 - $80,000 annually

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in collaboration with the Director, Industry Relations and the Managing Director, AFBFA to develop and implement external sponsorship fundraising strategies for AFBF and AFBFA including:
  • Surface and build relationships with new sponsors
  • Identify and sell sponsorship opportunities
  • Attend meetings with new and existing sponsors and follow up as needed
  • Demonstrate value to sponsors by gathering and sharing appropriate measures of success
  • Assist in relationship management and project deliverables for existing sponsors
  • Coordinate planning and execution of Industry Relations and AFBFA events and programs related to sponsorships and fundraising, including those at the annual convention
  • Provide communication support for internal and external audiences with an emphasis on consistent and creative engagement with sponsors
  • Assist with the accounting procedures connected to sponsorships

AFBF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify opportunities for sponsor companies to engage with Farm Bureau members and be recognized at events aligned with sponsor business objectives
  • In collaboration with the full Industry Relations team and other teams within AFBF, contribute to the development of strategic campaigns and collaboration opportunities with industry partners
  • Manage development of sales materials promoting sponsorships

AFBFA RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in collaboration with the Managing Director, AFBFA to write grant proposals to secure additional resources for the AFBFA and assist in meeting reporting requirements for funds awarded
  • Provide staff support for the Foundation Board's Relationship Committee
  • Serve as an enthusiastic spokesperson for the Foundation at events, including trade shows, conferences, and sponsor or in-office presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with other Foundation staff on internal development efforts, including fundraising events such as the annual Flapjack Fundraiser.
  • Surface and pursue new AFBFA funding possibilities including grants and large individual donors.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Collaborate with industry sponsors, the Director, Industry Relations and the Managing Director, AFBFA to achieve financial goals of Industry Relations initiatives.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3-5 years related work experience
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in fundraising via industry sponsorships
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management, project planning and organizational skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of agriculture industry, supply chain and emerging issues
  • Experience with Farm Bureau
  • Experience with writing and managing grants

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel as needed
  • Public speaking
