For more information about the benefits offered at CSN, please click the link Position SummaryAssistant Director, Institutional ResearchWithin the CSN Office of Academic Affairs, and under the direction of the CSN Executive Director of Institutional Research, the Assistant Director (AD) of Institutional Research (IR) is responsible for assisting the Director to fulfill the organizational goals and duties of the IR Office. The Assistant Director will oversee the development, maintenance and administration of a college wide data warehouse by working with various data stakeholders and college staff to create a set of tables that will provide accurate and appropriate data for both the day-to-day operation of CSN, and for use in long term planning. Along with this role, the Assistant Director will also oversee the completion of mandated federal and state reporting by assessing, developing, and documenting effective and efficient procedures for extracting data and creating reports and submissions. The Assistant Director will also work with the Director to design and execute a variety of research projects that respond to the strategic planning needs of the college.Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Social Sciences, Information Systems, Data Science, or Higher Education; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of professional related experience.
  • Experience with the development, administration, and documentation of enterprise data warehouses
  • Experience with Data Visualization/Business Intelligence platforms such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Experience with Data Analysis platforms such as R, Python, SPSS, or STATA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Social Sciences, Information Systems, Data Science, or Higher Education; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of professional experience in data management/analysis at a college or university.
  • Experience building and maintaining a data warehouse for a higher education institution.
  • Experience creating quantitative data models to predict student success.
  • Experience programming machine learning processes based on substantive research questions.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft SIS.
  • Experience with the Qualtrics XM Survey Platform.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of relational databases in relation to the development and administration of enterprise data warehouses.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to independently prioritize, plan and organize projects, tasks, and activities.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications that are tailored to the intended audience.
  • Ability to create data tables and visualizations that can communicate findings clearly to users of varying technical expertise.
  • Ability to collect and organize data from a variety of sources, including but not limited to institutional student information systems, external data sources such as the US Census Bureau, Nevada Department of Education, etc.
  • Knowledge of Data Science concepts such as Decision Trees and Machine Learning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication Skills.
