Job Description
This position will manage and support the fundraising efforts for annual appeals to all constituent groups that support Southwest Minnesota State University, develop strategies to increase donations over time, and work closely with the Director of Development to strengthen relationships with donors. Annual appeals include telephone outreach, email and texting campaigns, postal mail solicitations, social media campaigns, and website donation forms. This activity requires extensive work with the alumni and donor database to coordinate and track solicitations and create mailing, phone call, and other required contact lists. The primary goal of this position is to provide funding to the Southwest Fund, but annual appeals also help fund scholarships, academic programs, athletics, capital projects, and other areas of campus. This position will also lead planning efforts for M4L Day, the social and crowdfunding annual day of giving for SMSU, and the Southwest Celebration, which highlights activity in many areas on campus to alumni and friends during homecoming.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree and two years of recent (in the last 5 years) experience in at least one of the following areas: fundraising, customer database management, direct mail marketing, social media marketing, telemarketing, or another related field.
* Must have experience working with Microsoft Office and be proficient with Excel.
* Experience with any type of database software used to create contact lists, queries, and reports.
* Must have ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
Preferred Qualification
* Master's degree.
* Experience with Raiser's Edge donor database software or other alumni database management software.
* Experience with database queries and data management.
