Job DetailsJob LocationGreensboro College - Greensboro, NCPosition TypeFull TimeDescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications will play a crucial role in supporting and implementing the college's marketing and communications strategies. This position requires a creative, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, assist with managing the communications and marketing efforts for the college, including media and community relations, website and social media platforms; collaborate with the president, Admissions, Institutional Advancement, and Alumni Engagement and the academic departments on internal and external marketing and communications initiatives.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Social Media Management
- Develop and curate engaging content for various social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
- Create and maintain a content calendar for consistent posting
- Monitor social media trends and adapt strategies accordingly
- Monitor primary GC social media to identify potential issues that impact brand integrity and sentiment
- Analyze social media metrics and provide regular performance reports
Creative Services (Design and Visual Communication)
- Basic graphic design development for brochures, posters, digital signage and other print and digital needs. Support event promotion and coverage across campus. Assist with photography and video production for various needs on campus (does not include Athletic events).
Media Relations
- Assist in writing and distributing press releases
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets
- Coordinate media interviews, requests and campus visits
- Monitor and track media coverage
Website Maintenance
- Oversee general website maintenance and assist in creating content for the college website, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding as well as ADA compliance. Manage the college's main events online calendar within the website.
- Collaborate with faculty/staff across all departments to ensure their website pages are up-to-date and in compliance
General Marketing Support
- Contribute to the development and implementation of marketing campaigns
- Assist with maintaining the integrity of the college brand (campus-wide), monitor and maintain the brand guidelines across all departments within the college. This would include keeping the college community on-brand with any digital, print, and campus signage that may be produced
College Publications
- These duties include assisting with writing, editing and distributing the monthly PrideLine e-mail newsletter and serve as assistant managing-editor for the alumni magazine, Points of Pride
(Some weekend or evening hours may be required for special events around campus)QualificationsSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in professional communications, marketing, public relations or a related role
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to engage and collaborate with people at all organizational level, both within and outside of the campus community
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and operational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
- Computer literacy, especially regarding work processing software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Office 365)
- Basic graphic design skills
- Basic photo and video editing preferred
- Advanced knowledge of website administration (WordPress preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Job duties are mostly preformed indoors with some outside events coverage required. The person in this position needs to move about indoors and outdoors around the campus to attend and photograph events, meet with stakeholders to gather information, interview subjects for articles, etc.
- Job duties are performed during the day with some evening, late-night and/or weekend requirements throughout the year depending upon campus events. No out-of-town travel required.
