Overview The Assistant Director is responsible for providing direct supervision and management of all patrol operations, including but not limited to the supervision and management of the Dispatch Center, emergency preparedness programs, as well as administrative duties. This role will pay a yearly salary of $90,000 to $120,000 and is bonus eligible. Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for the Security Department and all other assigned programs and functions; meet with staff on a regular basis to identify and resolve challenges; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures.
- Participate in the selection process, train, motivate and evaluate Security staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures
- Assist Director with the development of programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientation, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instructions, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
- Maintains required reports and documentation regarding patrols of property and parking areas.
- Attends pre- and post-convention and weekly forecast meetings to understand group needs and gather critical information to communicate to Director of Public Safety and staff.
- Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations.

- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and requirements to ensure OVG venues, arenas, etc. are prepared in an emergency.
- Has experience developing and delivering high level training and tabletop exercises to management
- Manage all VIP and high-profile guests to include planning arrival and departures and working directly with FBI, CPD, Canine, SWAT, Secret Service and CIA.
- Familiar with CCTV and electronic access control systems.
- Ensures the department follows a systemic process to collect data and analyze the cause of security incidents and accidents and generate required reporting.
- Experience working with union members and complying with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
- Support the Director with the development and implementation of cutting-edge security protocols and emergency preparedness plans. Manage any Emergency Operations Systems.
- Assist the Event Managers in the development of event specific security and staffing plans and manages show oversight for contract security.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in an environment involving technical security systems.
- Supervisorial experience in a postsecondary public safety or law enforcement agency.
- Experience working in a large convention center is highly desirable
- Knowledge of state, local, and federal laws
- Knowledge of local and state laws related to powers of arrest/detainment and private security guards.
- Experience as a command level law enforcement officer highly preferred.
- Experience managing disaster-related events.
- Experience in Emergency Preparedness Programs.
- Must possess strong leadership skills.
