Job Summary The Assistant Director will be responsible for the following:
- Understand institutional policies and procedures pertaining to billing, compliance and privacy standards.
- Review financial aspects of complaints referred to the Patient Assistance Office.
- Delegate to Patient Assistance Office Billing Manager the triage of billing issues to/follow up with appropriate staff in department billing office, Patient Financial Services and/or Medical Service Plan.
- Complete root cause analysis for review with appropriate manager(s) in an effort to improve services and/or processes related to financial complaints.
- Identify and reports on trends related to billing complaints.
- Work with Medical Risk Management and/or Legal Affairs on review of grievances, incidents and events.
- Work with Institutional Compliance in regard to coding issues and Medical Risk Management/Legal Affairs reviews.
- Work with the Director of the Patient Assistance Office to recommend billing compliant resolutions.
- Manage PAO Billing Managers.
Experience and Education - Associate's degree or equivalent with eight (8) years of relevant experience including four (4) years of experience in a managerial role.
Additional Job Duties Directs Health System Complaint Reporting Processes. Serve as department Compliance Liaison. Identify operational issues and service gaps related to institutional billing practices and meet regularly with Revenue Cycle leadership to discuss ways to address those issues. Recommends training and/or operational changes when identified through complaint investigation. Special projects and other duties as assigned.
