Check us out online: www.nychealthandhospitals.org careers.nychhc.org Docs4nyc.org Job Description Purpose of Position: The Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations, under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, will assist in formulating, planning, directing, administering, coordinating and evaluating the Pharmacy services and programs in a hospital or hospital center. They will also promote effective functioning and operations of inpatient, outpatient, and satellite pharmacies in coordination with other professional and administrative disciplines. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Directs pharmaceutical personnel with respect to compounding and dispensing of drugs in accordance with prescribed policies and standards and legal requirements, requestioning and procurement of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies, inventory control and maintenance, storage of supplies and their issuance and maintenance of such control and standards, orderliness and cleanliness of Pharmacy area, and inspection programs
- Participates in the development and implementation of pharmaceutical service programs consistent with the medication needs of the patients, including control and accountability of drug products, requisitioning and dispensing of pharmaceutical supplies to nursing care units and to other departments of the hospital
- Participates with the hospital medical staff in the formulation and development of policies regarding the evaluation, selection, procurement, storage, distribution, use, and all other matters relating to drugs in the hospital with consideration being given to the following:
a. Drug Formulary b. Evaluations or clinical data on new drugs or preparations for use in hospitals c. Investigational drug protocols d. Drugs to be stocked and other related services
Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and 2. Four (4) years of satisfactory full-time experience as a licensed practicing Pharmacist, of which at least two (2) years shall have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity in a Pharmacy in a hospital, health or medical facility.
