Assistant Director Student Support Services and SSS: TeachSUMMARYPlan, organize, and implement student-centered programming and events related to financial literacy, career planning and exploration, cultural competency, goal setting, time management, self-advocacy, study skills, and other needsto promote the retention and success of TRIO SSS participants and relevant for first-generation students, students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, and students with disabilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Assists in the orientation of all in-coming program participants.* Maintain accurate program records and documentation of services provided.* Plan, implement, and present various academic support workshops and field experiences including, but not limited to: financial literacy, study skills, goal setting, graduation planning, cultural competency, and career exploration.* Provide oversight of teacher certification workshops for qualifying program participants.* Lead, manage and advise a case load of student advises for continuous and ongoing advising to TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) participants (first-generation students, students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, and students with disabilities) regarding college course completion, study abroad opportunities, financial literacy, financial aid, career exploration, graduate school enrollment, and other academic, social, personal, and cultural support.* Coordinate recruitment activities for prospective TRIO SSS participant to include but not limited to: outreach to current students, staffing tabling events, presenting to current students and units, develop marketing strategies.* Process potential participant applications, including screening, interviewing, and notifying students selected as participants.* Maintain a working knowledge of Federal TRIO programs/grant policies, procedures, reporting and university policies, and other areas impacting grant objectives to sustain a quality management philosophy in serving TRIO-eligible students.* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly leadership reports required by the department, division, and federal agency.* Assist with hiring, training, and supervising new hires and student workers.* Adhere to university and grant fiscal policies and procedures ensuring accuracy and compliance with policy and guidelines at the university and as requirements of the grant.* Assists Director in preparing grant proposals for refunding through US Department of Education.* Perform other duties as assigned by the executive director.ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (FUNCTIONS, DUTIES)1. In relation to level of NIMs training completed, participates in incident management preparation, and performs incident duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:* Minimum of Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or closely related field.* Must exhibit the interest, ability or overcome similar barriers in order to relate to disconnected students.* Must be a person who is able to relate to students, instructors, counselors, and administration in a positive manner.* Professional ethics related to position.PREFERRED:* Leadership experience at institutional, state, or regional level.* Prior TRIO experience preferred.* Some teaching experience preferredFounded in 1909 as a teachers' college, Southeastern Oklahoma State University continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas.
