Leadership skills.Summary Purpose of PositionThe Assistant Coach of any sport accepts the responsibility of overseeing activities within that sport as directed by the Head Coach. Terms of Employment - Annual position. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESThe Assistant Coach will perform all duties related to the sport as may be delegated by the Head Coach. The Assistant Coach works directly with the Head Coach, but is still responsible to the the Director of Athletics. Unpaid volunteers fall under the same category as Assistant Coaches.The Assistant Coach shall:
Provide instruction in fundamentals, techniques, and strategies as directed by the Head Coach. Model conduct, sportsmanship, and appropriate language at all athletic practices and events. Insist upon the best in sportsmanship, language, and conduct of each athlete, student trainer, and student manager at all practices, games and when traveling. Discipline members of the squad in compliance with the school district policies and building-level administrative guidelines, and with the approval of the Head Coach, Principal, and Director of Athletics. Give immediate first aid in case of injury and reports the circumstances and injury to the Athletic Trainer and the Director of Athletics. Provide supervision of locker rooms, practice sessions, and buses as directed by the Head Coach. Place the welfare of the student athlete and the reputation of the school above the outcome of the game. Set an appropriate standard of appearance for oneself as directed by the Head Coach and requires the athletes on trips to dress in a manner that positively reflects themselves, the team, and the school. Work cooperatively with the Head Coach in creating a positive attitude and enthusiasm in the sport. Support all school board policies and administrative guidelines. Perform all other duties related to the sport as may be delegated by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics. Physical Requirements: Able walk and sit for extended periods of time, able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.Dexterity: Must display good eye-hand coordination.Auditory and Visual Requirements: Must be within normal range Worksite Environment: Dependent upon the athletic contest.
