Position Overview:
Siemens Mobility is seeking an Assistant Manager for our 3rd Shift team in Orlando, FL. In this role you will have responsibility for the safe and reliable execution of the long-term maintenance contract for a fleet of high-tech trains. This contract consists of Tier 4 compliant high-horsepower locomotives in a push-pull configuration with elegant coaches to deliver a luxury customer experience. These trains will run up to 125 mph from Orlando to Miami 7 days a week!
We have responsibility for a best-in-class maintenance team to meet the needs of a demanding customer schedule. You'll work on the 3rd shift. We incorporate safety as it is the highest priority in all activities, processes, and operations. The diverse team will continue to build an attitude of continuous improvement in their approach to the challenges a long-term maintenance contract has against a fast-paced schedule with only the minimum downtime of the rolling stock. You will assist in recruiting, building, training, and empowering a proficient, high-performance maintenance team, establishing operational maintenance strategies, including Overhauls, and implementing critical productivity and efficiency measurements. The maintenance practices and processes require a condition-based approach in coordination with meeting FRA regulations. We're looking for an ambitious and can-do attitude to ensure the team selects and implements the best solutions to complex problems that can occur in a long-term maintenance environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
* Develop maintenance, overhaul, and repair operation by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances.
* Develop and implement plans; measure and analyze results; initiating corrective actions; minimize variances' impact; continuously improve processes.
* Maintain a very close working relationship with the Customer to ensure the team exceeds their expectations in contracted service levels.
* Ensure all organization activities and operations align with local, state, and federal/national regulations and laws.
* Plan and lead all resources including people, plant, material, tools, and third-party services to meet the operational requirements.
* Actively encourage identification of continuous improvement activities and implement any with significant cost and labour savings.
* Participate in regular reviews with customer representatives and demonstrate improved product performance and customer satisfaction by supporting them in their business objectives.

To thrive in this role, you have:
* Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or technical field of study. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree relevant technical work experience will be considered.
* An excellent record of leadership with 2+ years of supervisory/team lead experience, 3-5 years of railroad maintenance experience preferred, or similar industrial environment experience will be considered.
* Proficiency in capacity and workforce planning
* Ability to develop and maintain appropriate critical metrics.
* A consistent track record of operational accomplishments from a multi-product and refurbishment/overhaul environment.
* Basic mechanical/Electrical knowledge, structured failure analysis, failure search, understanding of the customer, strategic planning, technical management, promoting process improvement, maintenance control planning, developing standards, supervising budget expenses, documentation skills, control engineering, and quality management.
* Setting you apart from others would be 3-5 years of rail maintenance experience, and experience in dealing with the FRA / CFRs, as well as knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
