JOB TITLE: Assistant Operations ManagerDEPARTMENT: Amarillo TanksREPORTS TO: Production ManagerCLASSIFICATION: ExemptPAY: DOEBENEFITS: Medical, Retirement, PTO, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, STD/LTD, and EAP.Purpose and Scope: Under the supervision of the production manager, this role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling manufactured processes. Monitor production of goods ensuring accurate amount is produced at the right quality, cost and within the right lead-time parameters as set by the company. Provide administrative support to production staff. This role will be responsible for the production supervisor, warehouse manager, sales engineer and 14+ direct employees performance.Essential Functions
  • Oversee production schedule and quality control of finished goods.
  • Ensure products are produced on time or projects completed within the deadline.
  • Budgeting and Communication with Engineering/Design Team as well as Sales Team.
  • Develop and oversee Quality Control programs.
  • Performing various other tasks assigned.
Specific Tasks for Position
  • Coordinating and reporting day-to-day activities with the Production Manager.
  • Assist in preparing production schedules and timelines.
  • Coordinate with team to ensure the production process is completed on time.
  • Estimating costs of production process and equipment.
  • Ensuring that quality and company standards are met.
  • Checking the inventory and working with purchasing to place orders for raw materials.
  • Address production disputes and divert the urgent disputes to the Production Manager.
  • Create and maintain a report of the production status.
  • Ensure all safety and health procedures are always followed.
  • Review the production budget and make suggestions for improvement measures.
  • Identify and report operational problems to prevent production delays.
  • Schedule routine inspection and maintenance of production equipment to prevent equipment break-downs and malfunctioning.
  • Develop or update standard operating procedures and best practices for operations.
  • Ensure that all equipment, materials, and supplies are readily and continuously available to carry out production processes.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
  • Manage performance review, appraisals, and promotions for salaried direct reports.
  • Optimize production operations to meet quality and performance standards.
  • Assist in documenting all work instructions and procedures.
  • Ensure production process is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Determine resource requirements and work allocation for production operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience.Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in an Industrial Manufacturing environment with proof of progressive advancement over that time.Technical Requirements: Must have experience with Inventory management software. Proficient within the MS Office suite of software as well as email applications. Must have welding experience.
