The successful candidate will:
- Lead a research program in T-cell biology.
- Build and lead a collaborative and interdisciplinary research team, supported by robust extramural funding, leading to consequential contributions to scholarship and advancements in biomedicine.
- Complement existing areas of expertise in B-cell biology, cancer biology, allergy, autoimmunity, rheumatic diseases, and lipid metabolism.
- Build synergies with current SUNY Downstate researchers and physicians including those in the Department of Cell Biology, Medicine, Pathology, Physiology & Pharmacology, and in the School of Public Health, ultimately to increase our competitiveness for large collaborative institutional grants.
- Teach, train and mentor students in the College of Medicine, and MD/PhD students in the School of Graduate Studies MCB Program.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) in a discipline within the general area of immunology, with a focus on T-cell effector functions in human disease.
- Demonstrate a range of scientific expertise including cell and molecular biology, genetics, quantitative approaches (genomics, etc.), pre-clinical disease models, and clinical/translational research involving human bio-specimens.
- Demonstrate existing early-career grant funding (e.g., K99/R00 or other career development awards and foundation grants).
- Demonstrate high potential for substantial federal funding, an outstanding record of T-cell biology research, and a dedicated commitment to scholarly mentorship.
