Job Description:
Begin your journey as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Inorganic and General Chemistry at the State University of New York at Oneonta, starting Fall 2025. The position is full-time and 10-months.
The Assistant Professor will teach junior/senior level inorganic courses as well as courses in related areas, including general chemistry, according to expertise and departmental need. The Assistant Professor will also mentor undergraduate student researchers and participate in academic service activities. Research and teaching expertise in interdisciplinary areas is a plus. Our department offers BS degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry, with the option for ACS-certification, as well as a chemistry minor.
The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department is a cohesive group of 14 full-time faculty and staff members who nurture approximately 60 chemistry and biochemistry majors and serve about 300 students from other departments each semester. With a training program approved by the American Chemical Society, the Department maintains several active research programs and outreach to high schools. The department has extensive instrumentation for teaching and research, including a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer, an ICP-OES spectrometer, liquid chromatograph, luminescence spectrometer, a mass spectrometer, electrochemical analyzer, computational chemistry packages, and cell culture facilities.

Duties include but are not limited to:
* Teach undergraduate courses in inorganic chemistry, lecture, and laboratory.
* Teach general chemistry and other courses to meet department needs.
* Conduct laboratory-based chemical research that involves undergraduates.
* Contribute to departmental curriculum development.
* Contribute to department and university service.
* Work well within a collaborative instructional team.
* Foster diversity in the chemical sciences through teaching, research, and service activities.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field at time of appointment. ABD considered; completion required by date of appointment.
* Laboratory-based research experience in analytical or inorganic chemistry.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in inorganic chemistry.
* Ability to teach general or introductory chemistry courses, lecture and laboratory.
* Ability to teach other chemistry courses, particularly analytical chemistry.
* Ability to conduct laboratory-based research with undergraduate students in inorganic chemistry.
* Ability to maintain scientific equipment.
* Ability to work well within a collaborative instructional team.
* Experience in mentoring undergraduate students.
* Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
* Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity issues.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish.
