Job Description :

The Center for Urban Community Services, a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for an Assistant Program Director position at Park House/Webster.

The program provides training in evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing, Wellness Self-Management, and Parenting Journey. Services provided include case management, mental health services, and person-centered service planning utilizing a family systems approach.

The Park House and Webster Ave residences are supportive housing sites in the Tremont section of the Bronx for low-income and formerly homeless families and individuals. Both buildings are new construction (opened in 2018), developed on the same plot of land, and connected by an outdoor courtyard area. CUCS staff provide social services at both sites. The Webster houses 170 tenants and Park House houses 20 special needs tenants. CUCS provides comprehensive on-site social services using a person-centered and recovery orientation, which includes evidence-based practices such as Supported Employment, Motivational Interviewing, and Wellness Self-Management, with particular emphasis on mental health, chemical dependency, and services to people living with HIV/AIDS. This property is managed by Breaking Ground.

Responsibilities:

This position works closely with the Program Director and has the primary responsibility for supervision of designated clinical staff and oversight of the site's special services programs, including on-site psychiatry. Additionally, this individual is responsible for maintaining good relations with funders and other stakeholders, and developing and maintaining a program culture that is client-centered, outcome-oriented, and dedicated to continuous quality improvement.

The position requires a thorough understanding of relevant service delivery concepts and structures, including strong knowledge and experience with mental health systems, and the ability to access and negotiate the full range of services aimed to support parents to successfully raise their children in our program. It also requires strong supervisory and administrative skills and the ability to interface effectively and efficiently with colleagues to ensure quality services and program operations.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, public administration, public health, human services, psychology, or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years applicable experience with related populations in human services organization
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience in HUMAN SERVICES, PUBLIC HEALTH, OR SOCIAL SERVICES
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy
Preferred:
  • LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
