Reports To: Routing ManagerDuty Days: 238 Days (8 hrs/day)Wage/Hour Status: Non-exemptPay Grade: A06Qualifications:College Hours, high school diploma or GEDProficient in use of PC computer and WindowsWorking knowledge and understanding of EDULOG routing systemsAble to work productively with little supervisionCommercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsementsPass annual physical in accordance with state lawSchool Bus Driver Certification or able to obtain with six months of hire dateNegative result on drug and/or alcohol tests administered as pre-employment, random, post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion basis, in accordance with federal law and district policyAble to read and interpret maps, map grids and routesAble to climb in and out of all school bus emergency exitsPrimary Purpose:Responsible for assisting in compiling data to produce transportation routing, assist in creating routes that minimize time on the route while maximizing ridership; minimizing number of buses utilized and providing a safe and on-time route to and from school. Provide ongoing routing changes to meet changing needs of the district and patrons. Safely drive students to and from school on a schedule assigned by the Transportation Department. Safely transport students and staff to and from district sanctioned activities. Always act in the best interest of the district, the students and the community.Major Duties and Responsibilities:* Operate EDULOG routing systems software.* Perform checks of current routes and modify to changing conditions.* Assist in providing bus routes for new schools.* Assist in entering street plats and address ranges.* Assist in the preparation of the state reports for reimbursement.* Converse with patrons and schools regarding bus route and bus stop issues.* Operate any Katy ISD school bus and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner while following all traffic laws, district policies, district regulations and Transportation Department regulations.* Other duties as assigned.Equipment UsedSchool buses, emergency equipment (triangle reflectors, fire extinguisher, bodily fluids kit, etc.), two-way radio, wheel chair lift, securements, Personal computer, telephone, printer, copier, calculator and fax machineWorking Conditions:Maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions. Repetitive hand motions. Prolonged driving and sitting. Frequent walking, standing, twisting, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension. Repetitive hand motions, moderate carrying, reaching. Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), vehicle fumes, noise and dust.
