General Definition of WorkThis role involves overseeing the district's academic services, staff development, and curriculum programs, while also managing student services and providing leadership development for principals. The position works closely with the Superintendent and the Board of Education on strategic planning, setting policies, and establishing goals. It includes supervising department staff and collaborating with directors across Student Services, Federal Programs, Exceptional Children, Secondary Education, Career and Technical Education, and Elementary Education.   • Provides strategic leadership for academic services, guiding curriculum development, instructional best practices, assessment systems, and data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborates with principals and district staff to enhance instructional strategies and promote teacher professional growth, improving classroom effectiveness.
  • Oversees the integration of strategic initiatives across departments, ensuring alignment with academic programs, budget priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Manages the budget for instructional materials, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and efficient use of funds.
  • Presents data-driven reports on the progress and outcomes of the strategic plan to the Superintendent, Board of Education, and community stakeholders.
  • Handles academic and student service complaints, ensuring timely and appropriate resolutions.
  • Stays current on educational trends and research, applying relevant insights to enhance academic services, instruction, and leadership practices.
  • Represents the district at state and national professional organizations and delivers presentations to the Board of Education as needed.
  • Guides the selection and use of instructional materials, including textbooks and digital resources, ensuring their effective implementation through targeted professional development.
  • Collaborates with department directors-including Student Services, Federal Programs, Exceptional Children, Secondary and Elementary Education, and Career & Technical Education-to ensure coherence and alignment of academic programs and services.
  • Coordinates professional development programs, ensuring the effective application of instructional best practices and academic initiatives in collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Oversees Student Services: special education, counseling, and health services, while working with school administrators to support student success and well-being.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to student services, including Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, and other mandated accommodations, in collaboration with the Director of Exceptional Children.
  • Develops leadership programs for school administrators, focusing on instructional leadership, school improvement, and organizational management.
  • Facilitates leadership training for principals, with emphasis on data-driven decision-making, teacher evaluation, and fostering positive school culture.
  • Leads district-wide strategic planning efforts, ensuring alignment with the district's mission, vision, and goals in collaboration with the Superintendent and district leadership.
  • Conducts needs assessments and analyzes data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for growth in academic services, instruction, student outcomes, and staff development.
  • Other Duties:
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations on academic services, organizational development, and student services.
  • Extensive knowledge of County and School Board policies, procedures, and standards in education.
  • Comprehensive understanding of school administration principles and practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with School Board members, administrators, teachers, and support staff.
  • Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new or existing programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with school officials, administrators, teachers, staff, and community partners.
Education and Experience
  • Master's degree or above in education, school administration, or a related field, with extensive experience as a principal and teacher. Doctorate degree preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Regular speaking or hearing, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and repetitive motions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Visual and vocal communication abilities required for detailed and accurate instructions.
  • Standard office and school environments; no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Special Requirements
  • Professional Educator's License in Administration or Academic Services required.
