We are currently seeking an experienced paper machine Assistant Superintendent to join our team.Summary Description: The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the Paper Machine (PM) Superintendent in leading, directing, and coordinating paper machine operations, in order to ensure maximum production and meeting quality specifications in the safest, most efficient, and economical manner.Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
  • Assist the PM Superintendent to lead, coach, and supervise the R15 operations group in order to help R15 achieve world class safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity goals.
  • Assist the PM Superintendent in the creation of aa high performance, hourly operations team by establishing and upholding clear expectations and accountability.
  • Maintain and effective training program and assure operations are well trained and qualified for their positions.
  • Fulfill Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) functions:
    • Key liaison between operations and maintenance teams
    • Responsible to validate and prioritize all maintenance work orders
    • Responsible for planning, managing and helping with execution of planned shutdowns
    • Decision maker at weekly maintenance planning meetings, prioritizing both mechanical and electrical work
    • Partner with maintenance counterpart on machine roll management
  • Partner with maintenanc4e and push towards improved equipment reliability
  • Assist with capital and maintenance expense and planning
  • Identify and implement projects to improve safety, quality, reliability and productivity
  • Actively engaged in process/equipment optimization and improvement
  • Effectively troubleshoot complex paper machine issues, driving to root cause and correction
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Pulp & Paper Science, or 10+ years of paper machine operation experience
  • Paper machine supervisory experience with 2-5 years paper machine operations expertise
Skills/Competencies Required:
  • Strong leadership, supervisory and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated initiative to improve processes and drive for results
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of paper machine processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot and quickly recognize both process and equipment issues
