Who We Are:

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking an Assistant Supervisor of Food Services for the 2024-2025 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. The position of Assistant Supervisor of Food & Nutrition is responsible for supporting food service operations and assisting in the management of employees as well as systems utilized in the Food & Nutrition Department such as accurate student accounting, inventory, nutritional analysis and communications with vendors.

As an Assistant Supervisor of Food Services you are required to have:

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Experience in food service operations or high volume production environment

* Ability to work within the guidelines governing food service by the Clark County Combined Health District, Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Education and United States Department of Agriculture.

* Knowledge of computer systems with specifics in order/entry, student accounting, and POS terminal management.

As an Assistant Supervisor of Food Services you will:

* Acts as the Supervisor of Food & Nutrition in the event that the Supervisor is absent or unavailable.

* Responsible for the management, development, implementation, efficiency and monitoring of the computerized reporting systems utilized in the Food & Nutrition Department. Designs, manages and implements systems resulting in efficient and accurate student accounting, inventory, nutritional analysis and vendor interface.

* Manages the accuracy and timeliness of the purchasing system based on the standardized menus, thus ensuring operations have the proper quantities of food and supplies on hand. Make corrections to the ordered supplies as necessary.

* Directs workflow to promote efficiency of the kitchen personnel, specifically with regard to cashier standards of operation, reporting and maintenance. Reviews all cashier reports for completeness and accuracy. Performs employee annual reviews, takes corrective action with employees who fail to meet standards and recommends personnel for employment

* Reviews, maintains, corrects and adapts the systems utilized, to ensure compliance with all regulatory agency requirements. Manages the flow of information into the state reporting system to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the reports.

* Assists in the training and orientation of employees.

* Assists the Supervisor of Food and Nutrition in menu planning and development. Monitors compliance to ensure that standardized recipes and programs are in place at all locations for proper and safe service.

* Reviews menus and recommends revisions as necessary considering the seasonal availability and commodities available to utilize products in a safe and fiscally responsible manner.

* Uses technical skills to produce fiscally responsible outcomes, develop strategies to maximize revenues and reduce expense while maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies.

* Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What We Offer:

As a contracted employee, this position is assigned to work 234 days per year and 8 hours per day.

Salary Range starting at $50,544.00 depending upon experience and education. Details are available within the SASO/SAST Agreement:
