Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management

POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVP) provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive enrollment management plan for Kingsborough Community College. The AVP will work closely with all areas to advance Kingsborough's mission and strategic plan as they relate to student enrollment, student retention, and programs that enhance the student experience at the College. The AVP provides oversight and coordination between the offices of Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, Registrar, Testing, One Stop Center, and International Student Affairs. Seeking an individual who has the ethical and moral fortitude to serve as a visible and engaging role-model and leader for the enrollment team, focusing on professional development and growth. A systematic leader that develops strategic robust plans driven by data and analytics, both agile and focused on continuous improvement. A leader who facilitates a culturally-competent work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with, a diverse population. This is a highly visible position, regularly interacting with senior administration, faculty, and staff and serving as spokesperson for the university among prospective students, families, school counselors, and a variety of other constituents. Anticipated start date is June 9, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, ongoing assessment, and refinement of effective, innovative, collaborative, analytically rigorous enrollment management activities in partnership with the President, Provost, and other key campus stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight of several Enrollment Management service areas: Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, Registrar, Testing, One Stop Center, and International Student Affairs, to ensure delivery of quality services to all constituents, including prospective and current students, academic and administrative departments, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide innovative leadership, vision, and direction to the University's plans to increase undergraduate enrollment, work collaboratively with other vice-presidential areas to improve retention, increase and accelerate graduation results, and assess outcomes.
  • Participate actively at all University-wide meetings; represent the University at regional and national conferences and events. Report regularly to different constituents on the state of enrollment at the University and emerging trends in enrollment management.
  • Coordinate initiatives to track and increase retention.
  • Contribute to the development of effective policies and procedures relevant to student enrollment and enrollment-related functions. Chair and/or participate in enrollment-related committees and task forces at Kingsborough and CUNY and assist in the development of enrollment goals and targets.
  • Develop, lead, and execute both short and long-range vision and strategy that will help the university achieve its strategic plan goals.
  • Remain well-versed in demographic trends and challenges, as well as in recruitment trends and challenges, and demonstrate successful execution of best practices and innovative methods to meet enrollment goals.
  • Provide strategic and visionary strategies to help increase the reputation of the university, developing and cultivating partnerships with national and international organizations and leading thought in higher education.
  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment plan designed to meet enrollment goals and priorities and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Develop a sustained presence in the local community and collaborate with superintendents, principals, counselors, and K-12 leaders to ensure sustained partnerships within the region.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to ensure success in planning and executing large-scale admissions events, with a focus on customer service and showcasing the University's strengths.
  • Coordinate with the internal marketing division to ensure that recruitment publications are well planned, branded, creative, accurate, and strategic.
  • Assure adherence to state and federal regulations, and University policies.
  • Provide regular, accurate, and comprehensive updates to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and be willing and prepared to fill in for the VPEM, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

Earned doctorate or terminal degree strongly preferred; ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education and enrollment management administration preferred. Proven success with enrollment management, student retention strategies, and initiatives desired. Demonstrated experience with collaborative projects between student affairs and academic programs. Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and assessment of learning outcomes. Candidates should also have experience working in an urban academic institution with students from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills required; ability to develop and maintain collaborations involving students, parents, staff, faculty, administration, and the community are essential. Demonstrate excellent listening and problem-solving skills. Exhibit the flexibility to manage multiple complex roles which require a broad base of knowledge. Possess the ability to articulate the philosophy of Enrollment Management and its contribution to student development.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $155,000 - $165,000
