DescriptionPosition purpose The Assistant Vice President of Admissions provides leadership and coordination for the planning and implementation of effective recruitment strategies and works closely with the academic and senior leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan that works to achieve the strategic vision developed by the College. The Assistant Vice President is responsible for planning, staffing, training, managing and implementing new student recruitment, admission programs and academic advisement programs designed to attract and enroll undergraduate, transfer and graduate students. The Assistant Vice President will also assist the institution in developing retention strategies that contribute to sustaining enrollment. The Assistant Vice President will represent the College at public events and visit with counselors at high schools and two-year institutions to explain admissions requirements and more. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the office. Supervises departmental staff. Evaluates staff in accordance with the performance review process. Hires new staff as needed.
- Provides leadership and cultivates the professional development of the staff.
- Executes a comprehensive recruitment plan for the college and collaborates with all campus constituencies, including public affairs, faculty, financial aid, and registrar to ensure attainment of recruitment goals. The Assistant Vice President will also work closely with the associate vice president (AVP) and the strategic enrollment management plan committee to oversee and implement the comprehensive plan.
- Monitors department and staff compliance with applicable regulations and standards (external and internal) throughout all aspects of the enrollment process, including international students.
- Oversees campus visits, open houses and admissions application processing as needed.
- Monitors new student enrollment data and reports accordingly. Works with the AVP to adjust tactics in response to that data as needed.
- Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the purpose of evaluating international credentials, issuing 1-20 documents to new international applicants and works in conjunction with other staff.
- Assists and advises international students (including F and J statuses) on immigration and related issues.
- Processes information in related systems such as SEVIS (Student Exchange Visitor Immigration System).
- Assists in maintaining student international records and creating related reports.
- Provides ongoing annual assessment of agreed to goals and operations of the office.

- Masters Degree required.
- 8 plus years of progressively responsible college admissions or recruiting experience.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff to contribute to the success of the department.
- Ability to prioritize; work under pressure and with multiple projects/deadlines
- Supervisory experience, multitasking ability, solid communication skills and ability to think outside of the box
- Knowledge of Salesforce, TargetX, The Transfer Evaluation System (TES) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of SEVIS, F-1 and J-1 regulations recommended.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret admissions data on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Ability to respond to inquiries from prospective students, parents, high school counselors and others
- Utilizes various methods including social media (Facebook, twitter and other emerging technologies) to respond to inquiries.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
Work environment and physical functions
- This position is located in an office environment. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment either individually used or shared with a department is the responsibility of all employees.
- This position requires travel, both local and overnight.
