LOCATION OF POSITION: Monroe 1 BOCES - 41 O'Connor Road, Fairport, NY 14450; Office of Assistive Technology Department, Various locations per service requests
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month Position - Per Diem; Current employees would work hourly in addition to their contractual hours
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
SALARY RANGE: $23.33 per hour
DUTIES:
1. Evaluate learner needs to select, acquire, and customize appropriate assistive technology devices to improve functional, academic, and social abilities.
2. Plan and provide assistive technology training & services for learners, families, and educational teams as outlined on IEPs/504s.
3. Establish and maintain communication with caregivers, educators, and other involved professionals and appropriate community agencies to coordinate services.
4. Assisting with the development and implementation of IEPs (including preparation of annual reviews and re-evaluations) that address a need for assistive technology support and how they integrate with academics, based on students' needs.
5. Providing thorough and timely reporting consistent with Department policies and program requirements.
6. Participate in departmental, building, and program team and professional learning community meetings.
7. Establish and maintain a daily schedule.
8. Implement various service delivery models.
9. Stay current on emerging assistive technology trends and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. NYS Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped/Teacher of Students with Speech Language Disabilities, Teacher of the Visually Impaired, or Special Education OR NYS Licensed OT/PT.
2. At least 3 years' experience with assistive technology support preferred.
3. Certification as an Assistive Technology Provider preferred.
4. Experience with school age students with diverse learning needs preferred.
5. Experience with itinerant service delivery models preferred.
6. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
