Job DescriptionWe have an immediate opportunity for a global public affairs professional with strong foreign policy experience, issues management, writing, and project management skills. You will be joining our growing Global Public Affairs practice in our Washington, D.C. office.As an Associate Director in APCO's Global Public Affairs Practice in Washington D.C. you will have responsibility to help APCO deliver and grow its advisory business focused on global supply chain and trade, investment and commerce as well as broader geopolitical, policy and communication matters, particularly in relation to U.S.-India relations.You will work with a diverse group of talented and collaborative colleagues across the U.S., and Asia, with a particular focus on India. You will play a key role in coordinating and driving client projects and supporting the execution and engagement of high-profile public affairs and communications programs. The selected candidate must have the ability to work with cross-border, inter-disciplinary teams; manage competing priorities and deadlines; and ensure consistently high-quality client service, while staying abreast of current affairs, particularly related to the tech sector and the impacts of geopolitical events on multinational businesses. You will work closely with our global teams, in particular Delhi, and have the opportunity to work across disciplines: corporate advisory, geocommerce, policy analysis, government relations, litigation and crises, issues management, ESG, anti-trust, communications, financial, media relations, and digital engagement.What we bring you: A growing global headquarters in the heart of Washington, D.C. with the opportunity to work on high-profile, globally recognized clients.   • Monitor policies and news on topics related to international relations including trade and supply chain, global investment opportunities, immigration policy, data and cybersecurity, national security and other geopolitical trends.
  • Support global clients with the strategic development and implementation of business opportunities in the U.S.-India corridor.
  • Assist in identifying and engaging diverse stakeholders, media and influencers on topics and issues mentioned above, particularly in Delhi.
  • Conduct research and draft policy papers on political issues related to sectors including telecommunications, apparel, agriculture, healthcare and tech.
  • Assist in drafting analytical pieces on issues, policies, current events and business trends such as the CHIPS Act, trade and investment actions, immigration policy and other U.S. congressional developments.
  • Actively participate and support new business development efforts including attending introductory meetings, writing proposals and developing pitch decks.
Qualifications:
  • At least 6-8 years of public affairs, strategic communications, or federal/state issue advocacy campaign experience including at least 4 years leading client projects from start-to-finish
  • 2-5 years of research or work experience on US-India relations
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding presentation skills including the ability to engage executive leadership
  • Solid project management experience, including overseeing a team and multiple deliverables
  • Management consulting experience is a plus
  • Lobbying and government relations experience is a plus
Compensation Range:The US base salary for this position ranges from $90,000/year to $120,000/year. Our compensation range for this role is inclusive of several US geographic markets.
