The Division of Institutional Advancement is responsible for acquiring support from corporations, foundations, alumni and friends to support the programs of the University. By using creative strategies to enhance the University's image, the office promotes the overall mission of North Carolina Central University to its external publics in order to solicit and acquire philanthropic support.
Primary Purpose of Position
North Carolina Central University seeks a fundraiser for an entry-level position as a junior Development Officer, operating as the Associate Director of Annual Giving. Under the leadership of the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director will be responsible for management and oversight of annual giving programs, which include direct mail, phonathon, class reunion giving, e-solicitations & social media activities for Alumni and Friends. In addition, the selected candidate will work with other staff members to maximize fundraising productivity, provide staff support at special events, develop productive working relationships with key volunteers, and perform other duties as assigned.

A commitment to understanding industry trends and best practices and implementing program changes, when necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to set, track, and analyze progress toward annual goals
Proven ability to succeed in a collaborative, team oriented environment and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, volunteers and others.
Solid working knowledge of MS Office or comparable software suites.
Experience with Raiser's Edge NXT and/or similar fundraising CRM databases.
Attend a variety of events throughout the year.
Occasional travel and occasional night and weekend work is required
Other duties and assignments as required.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two - four years of successful fundraising experience in annual giving or direct marketing with demonstrated results.
