Location : 1200 N Dupont Highway, DoverJob Type: ProfessionalJob Number: 2024-00196Division: Student AffairsDepartment: JUDICIAL AFFAIRSOpening Date: 11/12/2024General Description of the Position Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Academic Success assist with providing information and programs for Community Responsibility. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Academic Success. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
  • Develop educational programs for students (on campus residents, commuter students, student leaders, etc.) such as general conduct expectations, alcohol and other drugs, etc.
  • Keep all records, files, reports and paperwork accurate and current for programming.
  • Adjudicate conduct infractions.
  • Conduct pre-hearing meetings.
  • Conduct staff trainings.
  • Update conduct policies and procedures.
  • Make referrals to counseling and/or other educational programs as appropriate.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Must maintain highest level of confidentiality.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of student development theory.
  • Knowledge of computer databases.
  • Ability to provide one on one counseling and advisement.
  • Demonstrate skills in decision-making and conflict resolution.
  • Must have some knowledge of the judicial process in higher education.
  • Must have proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
  • Must have ability to be objective when handling student's judicial cases.
  • Must be detailed oriented and well organized
  • Must be committed to and be able to work well in a diverse community.
  • Must have experience in writing policy and procedures.
  • Qualification Standards
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Must be available to be on-call for crisis response as needed.
  • Must work collaboratively and effectively with various departments within the division of Student Affairs and the Delaware State University community.

  • Working knowledge of the JAMS system, email and calendar/scheduling system.
