It encompasses various departments and initiatives such as Leadership Programs, the Food Pantry, Student Clubs and Organizations and Associated Students of the University of Idaho (ASUI). DSI engages with students through advising and supervisory roles, driven by an educational approach that celebrates student achievements.Position Overview The Associate Director (AD) provides leadership and direction for the Department of Student Involvement (DSI). This position oversees the creation of campus programs by recruitment, training and management of the Vandal Entertainment Student Board (VE) and marketing efforts, website and social media outreach for the department and programs. The AD directly supervises 2-3 full-time professionals in Sustainability, Leadership and Food Pantry Programs, Student Media, Student Clubs and Esports. Working with the director to provide representation in regional and national organizations such as APCA and NASPA and serve on campus committees such as, Demonstration Action Response Team (DART), Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT).The Department of Student Involvement (DSI) serves in the division of Student Affairs at the University of Idaho. DSI plans, coordinates and implements campus student activities. In DSI there are departments and programs charged with providing events and experiences for students including:
- Esports
- Leadership Programs
- Food Pantry
- Student Sustainability Cooperative
- Vandal Entertainment
- Student Marketing
- Student Clubs
- Organizations
- Associated Students University of Idaho student government (ASUI)
DSI's purpose is to increase student retention and success providing opportunities to find communities of students within the greater Vandal family. DSI provides opportunities to network and engage in the Vandal experience.Unit URL Position Qualifications Required Experience
- Three years working in higher education
- One year performing supervisory duties
- Planning and implementing small and or large events on a college campus
- Managing multiple projects while adhering to deadlines
- Initiating and implementing new programs/projects
- Developing, implementing and assessing a marketing strategy for a variety of audiences
- Identifying, assessing, developing and presenting marketing programs and training activities
- Developing, coordinating and promoting programs
- Applying learning processes, group dynamic and student development theories
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communication, Marketing or related field
Required Other
- Must be able to travel
- Work nonstandard business hours and on occasional weekends
Additional Preferred
- Experience in higher education advising
- Five years professional experience effectively interacting with students, faculty and administrators in a college or university setting
- Experience in advising or supervising college students; educational and learning processes, group dynamics and student development theory
- Experience planning and implementing small and or large events on a college campus; managing multiple projects while adhering to deadlines; and initiating and implementing new programs/projects
- Experience establishing good working relationships with faculty, staff and students, explaining policies and procedures to a variety of constituencies
- Experience writing grants and working with agency's and negotiating contracts
- Experience with computer software including graphic design, web page creation, database management, Microsoft suite software and financial programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in team building and maintenance
- Experience engaging with regional or national higher education conference/committees
- Experience with budgeting
