Real Chemistry is looking for an Associate Director, Search to join our growing team!

The Associate Director, Search is responsible for holistic search marketing expertise – inclusive of both Paid Search (SEM) campaign strategy, planning, implementation, and management as well as ownership of organic search (SEO) strategy, execution, and maintenance.

The ideal candidate will be wholly comfortable being independent and capable of managing their own workload, projects & day-to-day tasks as well as delegating and managing the team below them. This role serves as the primary point of contact for the internal teams he/she supports for all items regarding campaign activation and search optimization.

The role will have a direct line of communication to senior members of the team which is designed to facilitate knowledge sharing in both directions and will act as one of the agency's primary lead subject matter experts on all things Search Marketing.

The ideal candidate will have prior paid media and campaign management experience in Search Engines (Google Search, Shopping Ads, PMAX, and Microsoft Bing) and also in Search Engine Optimization including keyword research, analysis, portfolio management, and opportunity analysis, in writing meta data and working in platforms such as SEM Rush and Google Search Console. They should have strong analytical and communication skills, hands-on keyboard experience, and able to communicate/explain technical details to clients and key stakeholders. Collaboration across all agency teams (Integrated Media, Analytics, Strategy, Ad Operations, Creative, etc.) is required.

This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices—including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Carmel, or San Francisco—or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.

What you'll do:

Paid Search (SEM)

  • Oversee the day-to-day paid search management of multiple account(s).
  • Work with the Director/Senior Director to develop tactical strategy and planning for SEM campaigns that align with client business objectives.
  • Ability to forecast for paid search, handle budgeting, and pacing for SEM campaigns to ensure efficient allocation of resources and optimize performance within budget constraints.
  • Train and mentor junior team members.
  • Build search ad copy and keyword assets, create campaigns in platforms, perform QAs, and activate according to best practices.
  • Support & lead planning process alongside senior Integrated Media team members.
  • Implement media plans and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills to extract meaningful insights pertaining to search campaign performance data and tying these insights back to client goals, as well as identifying actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to pull platform reporting to support Analytics readouts and client deliverables.
  • Attend meetings/statuses/calls on behalf of account's team members to ensure proper communication and connection between capability and client/brand needs.
  • Oversee monthly billing and actualization between vendor and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and processing.
  • Provide timely updates to all campaign stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Participate in client meetings & conversations when applicable, with support from senior team members.
  • Support internal and external communications with team members and partners across several accounts – from responding to a brief, strategic recommendations, to developing a multi-channel plan, recommending measurement, campaign launch and optimization, to results reporting.
  • Lead preparation of client-facing presentation slides summarizing campaign performance, optimizations, recommendations, wrap ups & the like.
  • Organic Search (SEO)

  • Oversee search engine optimization strategy development while also owning the day-to-day implementation of SEO recommendations and best practices.
  • Ability to align SEO and SEM strategies within an integrated media plan.
  • Serve as an in-house SEO expert, advocating for best practices and educating colleagues.
  • Independently conduct optimizations focused on improving on-site organic ranking.
  • Perform keyword research, mapping, and search trends research to optimize existing content and identify new opportunities for clients.
  • Conduct site-wide SEO audits and spot errors in page code to recommend corrections.
  • Lead search listing management and online reputation management.
  • Review new and existing page templates for optimization purposes.
  • Ability to review site architecture, including navigation, URL structure, hierarchy, internal linking, and landing page creation/project management of technical requirements.
  • Lead backlink audits, risk assessments, and development of long-term strategy.
  • Assess and provide metadata for blog content as well as page optimization recommendations.
  • Review header elements including proper use of title, meta, canonical, schema, and other tags.
  • Identify website crawl errors, accessibility, and indexation issues with actionable recommendations.
  • Review redirects to ensure proper funneling of link equity.
  • Mobile SEO analysis and recommendations, as well as social media integration strategy within website and content.
  • Ability to perform Google Search Console reviews, in addition to ongoing technical monitoring, indexation, and rankings performance.

    What you should have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience working in digital media as a campaign manager – while owning buying platform management, campaign management, optimization & digital media operations.
  • 3+ years of hands-on platform experience – Paid Search and SEO-specific.
  • In-depth understanding of SEM and SEO (including paid search campaign management, media optimization practices, and deep understanding of search engine algorithms).
  • Pharma/healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on keyboard experience with Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and bid management platforms like SA360.
  • Must have experience with multiple buying tactics like Performance Max, Google Shopping.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe or Google Analytics.
  • Successful track record of taking on increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to multi-task, be proactive, and prioritize accordingly in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience with leading day-to-day meetings, statuses, calls.
  • Experience in platform strategy and tactical recommendations.

  • Pay Range: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location.
