Job DescriptionFloor Covering Weekly (FCW), a member of the Hearst Organization, is pleased to announce the recruitment for an Associate Editor. This is an amazing opportunity to join a collaborative group that has the feel of a startup but whose growth and development is backed by Hearst.The role requires excellent writing skills, strategic thinking and the ability to hone a meaningful perspective on industry nuances. This position is New York based. FCW is currently working under a hybrid format where in-office days are required at the Hearst Tower.ResponsibilitiesYou will be charged with ownership of category coverage and, as subject matter expert, be responsible for developing storylines and leading initiatives focused on this category. As well, you will assist in leading content creation bringing high level ideas and storylines to the team. This includes ideas for stories outside of day-to-day category coverage.Participate in the production process and cycle - from page proofing to reviewing content. Approve deployment of digital products as needed and participate in troubleshooting digital posts on FCW's website (FCW1.com) and social channels making suggestions as needed.Travel required - key industry events, trade shows and partner meetings - resulting in coverage for each FCW platform including the FCW1.com website, social platforms, videos and print.QualificationsIdeal Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts in English, Journalism, Mass Communication or a related field
- Minimum of five years in media / publishing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InCopy and Google Docs. Experience with Excel a plus.
