Description
Kirtland Community College is looking to add an Associate Facilities Supervisor to our Facilities Management Team.
This role assists with the planning and completion of campus-wide infrastructure systems and projects, including storm water diversion, power distribution, telecommunications, road/path system, building maintenance and repair, and energy management. Leads and advises Facilities Management staff in maintenance, custodial, grounds, and shipping/receiving. Coordinates with Instructional Staff to ensure skilled trades laboratories are maintained.
Position responsibilities are also inclusive of those performed by Maintenance and Grounds staff, as necessary.
May work under hazardous conditions, and must comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including ADA and MIOSHA.
Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Maintains the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds using a preventative maintenance/inventory work management system to improve employee productivity and department efficiencies; revises program as necessary.
* Oversees and assists in maintaining various buildings utilizing carpentry, painting, concrete work, electrical and plumbing repairs, and installation.
* Oversight and coordinate with instructional staff to ensure skilled trade laboratories are maintained by completing schedules preventative maintenance.
* Performs on-site supervision and direction to skilled trades lab personnel and ensures the skilled trades laboratories are kept clean and orderly at all times.
* Ensures that instructional equipment and supplies are readily available to faculty and students by establishing and maintaining an inventory system for each skilled trades laboratory; initiates purchase orders for equipment and supplies within budgetary parameters; maintains supply and equipment budgets for skilled trades programs at Kirtland.
* Assists in scheduling custodial, grounds, maintenance, and shipping/receiving staff.
* Functions as Kirtland safety coordinator and trainer, maintaining the materials safety and data sheets for all supplies located within the skilled trades laboratories, and assisting faculty and students in complying with OSHA regulations.
* Assists the Director of Facilities in formulating budget recommendations by identifying needed repairs, obtaining cost estimates, and forecasting required projects, tools, equipment, and supplies to maintain structures and systems properly.
* On 24-hour call to respond to and coordinate staffing for heating/cooling system breakdowns, malfunctions, and/or other facility emergencies.
* Performs duties and responsibilities inclusive of those Maintenance and Grounds staff.
* Performs other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* High school diploma or GED
* Five years of related work experience including, in part, electrical, HVAC and building trades, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
* Federal EPA Universal rating in refrigerants
* Knowledge/experience in the use of computerized monitoring of mechanical systems, computerized inventory control systems and/or databases, and as a communications tool.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings
* Working knowledge of the operation and repair of mechanical equipment, safety factors and construction codes.
* Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, and ascending ladders.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate and work effectively with individuals of widely varying skill sets inan educational setting.
* Possession of a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Associate's Degree in Business, Electrical Technology, HVAC, Building Trades, or Related Field.
* One to three years of supervisory experience.
SUPERVISION -Works under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities Management.
