Job Description :

We are looking for an Associate Food Scientist to join our R&D group in Omaha, Nebraska!In your role as an Associate Food Scientist for our Restaurant and Lifestyle Brands, reporting to the Culinary Manager, you will focus on innovation and margin expansion projects for frozen foods, collaborating with brands like Chef Boyardee and Bertolli, among others. You will develop new food products that align with consumer preferences and reformulate current products to enhance quality and/or profitability, overseeing the process from initial concept to successful commercialization.Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state of the art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and pilot plant capabilities.What you'll do in this role:Develop new products from the concept phase to successful commercialization.Lead product evaluations, design and execute plant trials, and initiate new product start-ups using pilot plant equipment.Establish product development schedules to meet project deadlines.Choose suitable methods, tests, and procedures for testing.Formulate project timelines, draft technical proposals, and provide reports and recommendations.Acquire proficiency in and utilize the online specification system.Design and conduct experiments, then compile results for evaluation.Ideate and create new product prototypes.What you'll need to be successful:Bachelors degree in Food Science, Science, Chemistry or related field.Approximately 1+ year experience inclusive of internships of relevant work experience in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization.Experience with food industry standards of quality and foods safety, and FDA regulations.Influence and collaborate with others to accomplish research goals.Microsoft Office proficiency and recipe managements systems.Physical Requirements:Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions, food tasting and smells including all food allergens.Use of tools, equipment, and machinery.May travel up to 30% of time independently and as a responsible Conagra representative.We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.This role is typically in the office Mon - Thursdays with some flexibility. An employee's actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees' equity.
