Working as a member of the Human Resources department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease throughresearch, education, and advocacy. Coordinate and assist with the administration of various Benefits and Human Resource programs; process new hire paperwork and enroll new employees in ALA-sponsored benefit plans including medical, dental, Life, Long-Term Disability, Flexible Spending and 401(k) Plans. Respond to time and attendance inquiries and handle merge file creation, mailings, and database input for various Human Resources deliverablesLocation: The position is located at the American Lung Association's New York, New York office and will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual work. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the new hire onboarding process by managing completion of new hire paperwork to ensure legal compliance.
- Process employee enrollments, terminations and changes for benefit plans. Generate required forms and notices (life insurance conversion, COBRA, HIPAA).
- Assist with monthly timecard closures. Identify, resolve and communicate attendance discrepancies. Interpret and explain attendance policies, in response to employee's inquiries.
- Maintain the accuracy of employees' records in the Time and Attendance System to include project codes and supervisor updates.
- Manage the Human Resources (AskHR) email account and respond and/or route e-mail inquiries to appropriate HR Staff. Monitor and manage the HR fax, respond and/or forward information to appropriate HR staff. Open and distribute mail that arrives in the New York office.
- Prepare and maintain employee electronic benefit files, ensuring accuracy, confidentially and compliance with applicable laws. Examine employee files to answer inquiries and provide information to authorized persons.
- Assist in processing assigned benefits-related invoices and coordinate the funding with the accounting department.
- Follow up with employees who need to provide supporting documentation for their benefit elections and/or life event changes.
- Coordinate supervisor updates with Finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Administration or related area
- At least one year of Human Resources or related experience.
- Must have competence in computer programs, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Teams is a plus
- HRIS (ADP WFN) experience a plus.
- Must be able to work independently and accurately on a variety of tasks.
- Must have excellent organizational and quantitative skills to handle a myriad of administrative and mathematical details.
- Outstanding customer service, oral and written skills are required.
- Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines with high degree of accuracy.
- Must be a team player.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality on all Human Resources matters.

Compensation: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $50,000 and $56,000 per annum. Benefits: The Lung Association offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
- Paid Leave - 10 vacation days in the first year (15 days thereafter), 2 personal days and 15 sick days per year, as well as 12 company-paid holidays per year. We also offer Paid Parental Leave for eligible employees.
