Associate, Investments

The Role:

The Investment Associate will assist the deal captains to evaluate and execute new investments in media and entertainment and perform transaction related work streams, including financial analysis and cash flow modeling, detailed strategic business reviews, and in-depth industry research.

What you will do:

Investment Due Diligence and Underwriting:

Perform comprehensive due diligence and underwriting analysis on new transactions, including asset acquisitions, growth investments, and structured finance deals.

Develop and maintain complex financial models, including cash flow forecasting, sensitivity analyses, and scenario modeling for both traditional private equity and structured finance investments.

Assess deal structures involving asset-backed and leveraging finance loan-type structures.

Analyze credit quality, waterfall structures, and covenants for structured transactions.

Transaction Execution:

Assist with the preparation of detailed Investment Committee materials, including memos, presentations, and supporting analytics to justify investment rationale.

Present findings and transaction insights to senior leadership, incorporating financial model outputs, valuation metrics, and risk factors.

Collaborate with legal counsel to review and negotiate transaction documents, including structured finance agreements, credit agreements, and purchase agreements, to facilitate smooth transaction closings.

Portfolio Monitoring and Management:

Actively monitor portfolio performance post-close, ensuring adherence to business plans, financial covenants, and investor expectations.

Support ongoing valuation efforts, including the analysis of complex capital structures and inputs for periodic financial reporting.

Participate in audit, tax, and compliance processes, ensuring structured finance transactions align with regulatory and accounting standards.

Evaluate portfolio exposure, liquidity risks, and repayment dynamics for investments involving leveraged assets.

Financial and Strategic Analysis:

Analyze capital structures and financing options for both new investments and existing portfolio companies, focusing on optimization of returns and risk mitigation.

Develop insights into market trends (e.g., interest rate shifts, credit spreads, investor appetite) and assess their impact on potential and existing investments.

Work closely with deal teams and senior management to refine investment strategies, including financing structures and exit opportunities.

Market and Sector Research:

Conduct industry and market research, with an emphasis on sectors relevant to esoteric deals in the streaming media, entertainment and sports sectors.

Benchmark transaction terms and financial metrics against comparable market deals to support competitive deal execution.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as legal, accounting, and tax advisors to ensure thorough transaction execution.

Actively engage with external partners, including investment banks, credit rating agencies, and financial advisors, to support structured deal sourcing and evaluation.

Prepare materials and communicate key insights for internal and external stakeholders regarding investment performance and risk exposures.

You:

  • BA/BS/MS or MBA from a top-tier university
  • 2-4 years of Investment Banking, private credit investing at a buy-side firm, or equivalent experience; or recent Business school graduate
  • Current or prior structured finance, asset backed securities, and/or cashflow modelling experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other business software
  • Strong Quantitative and Analytical skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate cross-functionally as a cohesive part of a team effort or as an individual contributor
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to handle multiple deliverables concurrently
