We are a medium-sized church with about 190-200 people in weekly attendance. The purpose of the position of Associate Pastor of Family Ministry is to assist Mt. Vernon Christian Church in fulfilling its goal of helping people grow deeper in their walks with the Lord and to reach farther in the community and around the globe. This individual will work alongside the Senior Pastor in the area of family ministry, providing spiritual leadership, encouragement, and resources.Education: Required at minimum a Bachelor's degree from a Bible College.Key Qualities: Have a healthy and growing walk with the Lord.Self-motivator who can lead and listen, including leading publicly.Strong organizational and detail skills.Humble and a collaborator.Strong communicator, both verbally and written.Musical ability to both play and lead vocally and instrumentally (guitar). Responsibilities:Primary Responsibilities: Support the Senior Pastor in the overall leadership of the church ministries.Supervise and provide oversight for the Children's and Student Ministries.Supervision of all paid & volunteer staff associated with Children and Student Ministry.Work with current staff/volunteers to train, recruit, and strengthen the ministries, including Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.Collaborate with the Children's Ministry Director and Student Ministry leaders to equip and encourage parents in the training of their children.Work with the Children's Ministry Director and Student Ministry leaders to set the budget for the next year.Regularly attend both KidVenture (similar to Awana) and Ë The Forge' (Student Ministry Gathering), rotating attendance as necessary.Direct oversight of the small group ministry, including recruiting and training new leaders and building the program. This individual must lead a small group as well.Oversee MVCC's outreach programs and events (Egg Hunt, Concerts, etc.), developing new ideas for different family events and implementing them.Assist in worship ministry by leading the congregation in singing on Sunday mornings or during any special services. The worship ministry director will compile the music and arrangements, schedule practices, etc.; the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries will vocally lead many songs and assist in playing guitar. Secondary Responsibilities: Assist in Pastoral Responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Senior Pastor, including: Preaching or other teaching opportunities.Visitation/hospital visits.Assisting with weddings and funerals. Attend all staff meetings/congregational meetings or other meetings deemed necessary by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.Align with the Theology, Vision, and Mission of MVCC (found on our website).Meet the Biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Reports To: Senior Pastor, providing monthly reports.One performance review annually. Time: Hours per Week Expected: 45 hours (includes all church-related activity). Evening hours will be required.
