Location: 674 W. Liberty Street, Sumter, SC

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm EST.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients in a professional and courteous matter
  • Directs patients to appropriate areas
  • Verifies and updates all patient demographic, employment, and insurance information with EACH visit
  • “Checks-in” all patients, gives patients medical forms to complete or update
  • Collects co-payments, deductibles, co-insurances, and outstanding balances, verifies insurance eligibility, verifies pre-authorizations were obtained (if applicable)
  • Collects payment, writes receipts, and posts payments
  • “Checks-out” all patients, schedules appointments for procedures, labs, and follow-up visits. Provides patient education for any prep information needed for procedures
  • Prepares information for next day's appointment (if applicable)
  • Scans and files patient information as needed
  • Reconciles cash drawer daily and sends deposits to Department Manager
  • Retrieves and sorts mail into appropriate boxes. Sorts and documents any returned mail
  • Maintains a good working relationship with practice staff members
  • Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean
  • Completes annual education requirements
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • Completes work in a timely manner
  • Attends staff meetings
  • Ensures patient confidentiality
  • Complies with all practice policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1 + year(s) of medical office experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Experience with electronic medical records

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills both in person and via phone
