Employment status This job offer for an Associate professor or Lecturer position is based on the tenure track system of Soka University. Your research accomplishments, contributions to teaching, and service to the university/department will be evaluated.

Qualifications [Details of required special expertise, qualification of the specific fields or degrees, etc.] All applicants should have a Ph.D. (or expected completion) in the Education field, and a minimum of three referred publications are preferred. A minimum Japanese language proficiency level of N2 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JPLT) is highly recommended for non-native Japanese speakers. Applicants with teaching experience in the Education field are encouraged to apply. *Applicants will be judged on teaching experience, professional academic activities, and administrative accomplishments.

Compensation (1) Salary: In accordance with Soka University's Salary regulations. (For reference, the salary range is approximately 5 million yen to 10 million yen for an associate professor position and 4 million yen to 9 million yen for a lecturer position.) (2) Allowance: In accordance with Soka University's Salary regulations. (3) Social Insurance: The Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan (Health insurance, Employee's Pension, Nursing care Insurance), Employment Insurance, and Workers' Accident Compensation Insurance (4) Tax: Residence tax (local tax) and income tax (national tax) (5) Working days: 4 days per week during both semesters.

[Selection process] Short-listed candidates will be informed by early June, 2025. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation by this date, you have not been short-listed. The first round of interviews will be conducted in the middle of June, 2025. Online interviews are possible. Successful candidates in the second screening will be required to attend an interview and deliver a mock lecture at the Soka University campus in the end of June, 2025 (Hachioji City, Tokyo). Online sessions are possible. The interview is scheduled to last approximately 30 minutes, and the mock lecture will be about 1520 minutes. The details of the final selection date and time will be determined later. (Approximately late June, 2025) Final results will be communicated to the successful candidates by the end of July 2025.
