Job DescriptionThe Victor Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is currently accepting applications for a Research Associate to join our team in addressing mechanisms of neuron-glia interactions in neurodegeneration. Candidates should demonstrate a high commitment to quality excellence, strong time management and priority setting skills, thorough, dependable, strongly motivated, and possess the ability to interact with all lab members in a productive, professional, and positive manner.The candidate is expected to work closely with other members of the lab in cutting-edge research project using human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models. Candidates with prior experience in cell culture (sterile technique, experience in human pluripotent stem cell culture maintenance and differentiation), and molecular biology (PCR for genotypying, qPCR for gene expression quantification, immunostaining) are strongly preferred.   • Under direct supervision, conducts routine and standardized experiments using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
  • Analyzes and assists in interpreting laboratory results.
  • Performs assays to support research studies.
  • Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory; may include ordering of supplies.
  • Logs and tests samples; prepares and submits laboratory materials and specimens for shipment.
  • Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
  • Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred, or combination of relevant research experience and education
  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience
  • Candidates with prior experience in cell culture (sterile technique, experience in human pluripotent stem cell culture maintenance and differentiation), and molecular biology (PCR for genotypying, qPCR for gene expression quantification, immunostaining) are strongly preferred.
