Management Level: P3 Position Summary Our Associate Technical Services would be considered an entry-level position under the direction of the Technical Services Manager/Associate Director that supports the daily activities of the Technical Services Department within Research and Development. The candidate will lead and assist other teams with the hands-on development, ingredient substitution and innovation related projects from concept to commercialization, including bench top and pilot plant work. The successful candidate will lead technical project teams and provide technical support to other functional groups within Tyson Foods. This candidate must also be familiar with critical steps in executing experiments and collecting data and in basic formulations and computer software used by the Technical Services group. Our Associate Technical Services would be working 1st Shift 8AM-5PM with flexibility to cover testing & projects on off shift hours, onsite at our New London Plant in New London, WI. Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assists in launching new products/changes using current line processes or working with corporate and operations to implement the needed changes to launch a product, or change packaging format.
  • Manages product and process development projects
  • Interacts with Corporate R&D, Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing to move projects from the concept stage to pilot plant, test market, and then to successful launch - document, summarize, and recommend status and next steps.
  • Maintains/Completes the manufacturing instructions for the product specification system
  • Uses GSM and PDM tools for project management
  • Verifies during first production that operations is following the correct manufacturing instructions;
  • Assists supply chain in understanding plant capabilities through plant testing to verify product performance, labor and yields
  • Leads project teams through rolling and hard cut offs for the Bill of Material changes, Specifications and communication with the Plant Operations team
  • Helps facilitate Product Transfers by assisting the plants in qualifying Finished Goods, components, and packaging and verifying the specifications are complete and the Bills of Materials are available prior to the qualification runs
  • As an innovations team member works with team members to ensure that test designs are completed and communicated to plant operations for successful tests
  • Apply knowledge of research methods, food science, and process technology to develop new or improved products, improve existing processes and generate cost savings
  • Support R&D, FSQA, Manufacturing and Technical Services for trouble-shooting and problem resolution - collect data, run tests, and conduct experiments to develop resolution to problems
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Biology, Chemistry or other related discipline preferred. However, will consider 7 to 10 years food manufacturing experience.
  • Experience: Some experience in Quality, Food Safety, R&D or plant operations preferred.
  • Communication: Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills: Intermediate computer skills. Experience of the use of Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn enterprise wide software.
  • Travel to manufacturing plants: 10%
  • Work Shift: 1st Shift, but may require work across shifts 1, 2 and 3.

  • No suspension on record for the last 12 months

  • Priority consideration will be given to Team Member's currently working at this facility.
