Since our opening in 1984, our dedicated staff has been committed to providing preventative health care and educational information for our clients so that, together, we can make sure pets are healthy and happy for years to come. For more than 30 years, The Pet Doctor has been serving the veterinary needs of small animals and owners in our community of Flushing, New York. We are proud to provide a full range of medical, surgical, fully stocked pharmacy, and online services. We offer a wide range of services to provide the best care for our patients including Preventative Care, Urgent Care & Emergency Services, Digital Radiology, High Speed Dentistry, Ultrasound, Laser Therapy, In-House Laboratory and Dental Imaging. Our practice has a great relationship with the mobile board-certified surgeon and veterinary internal medicine specialist that regularly visit the practice to provide specialty patient care.

We are located in Flushing, NY. Situated in the bustling community of Queens, Flushing serves as a home to a diverse society that makes the neighborhood a special place. Dynamic Flushing holds Queens' Chinatown, its busy main blocks lined with herbal shops, bakeries, and restaurants. The neighborhood is quite lush, too; it's home to the borough's botanical garden and one of NYC's largest parks. Downtown Flushing is well known for its restaurants, bakeries and Asian specialty stores and its easy transportation into Manhattan. The neighborhood of Flushing is home to numerous urban spaces, natural attractions, and historical destinations scattered throughout the community. There are a lot of places to visit and activities to try in this neighborhood. It's a great place to enjoy a healthy and active work-life balance.

We're looking for full-time or part-time veterinarians who are compassionate, team players and strong communicators to work alongside our talented 4 doctors. We could support an experienced associate veterinarian. The ideal candidate would be comfortable and open to performing surgery and have a passion for wellness. Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish) are a huge plus but not required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • Active veterinary state license.
  • Current DEA License preferred but not required.
  • USDA Accreditation preferred but not required.

The anticipated starting base salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $100,000 to $170,000 per year.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around animals (i.e., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc. Candidate to confirm species treated with practice leadership for additional clarity.)
  • Client needs and work volume may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. This position may require special working hours, including working weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
  • Must have mental capacity and processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderately high. Ear plugs will be available upon request.
  • Job requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform required duties while working.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hospital teammates are routinely exposed to a variety of animals that may bite, kick or scratch, and on occasion, may be exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological or zoonotic hazards and/or medication/controlled substances.
