Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management

Enrollment Management

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Enrollment Management reports directly to the Vice President of Enrollment Management. The AVP will execute initiatives, goals, and priorities to manage the processes and integrated and comprehensive institutional enrollment management strategy for the admission, recruitment, orientation, registration, and enrollment of undergraduate freshman, transfer, international, and readmit students and graduate students.

The AVP will supervise and oversee the training and development of admissions staff and work closely with the Vice President of Enrollment Management, other vice presidents, department heads, key faculty members in the respective departments, other administrative offices, alumni, and the community to promote and enhance College enrollment and enrollment management processes.

The AVP will also promote and develop the use of new and emerging strategies and technologies to improve the admissions, recruitment, registration, orientation and enrollment processes.

  • Manage undergraduate and graduate admissions processes to optimize student recruitment and meet Livingstone College's entering class size, academic quality, and net tuition revenue objectives.
  • Develop, manage, assess, and implement recruitment and admission strategies to achieve the College's annual enrollment goals.
  • Effectively lead the undergraduate recruitment process and ensure admissions staff are working with students from the point of “inquiry through enrollment.”
  • Review and authenticate official transcripts to ensure that admission staff make official admission decisions on behalf of the College.
  • Effectively serve as the College's student immigration compliance officer, ensuring that the College adheres to all federal student visas regulations, maintains the security of access to the SEVIS system, and oversees the issuance of I-20 forms for international students' admissions and related advising.
  • Provide supervision, training, and ongoing staff development to admission staff members to ensure that each has exceptional delivery of cost value information, motivation to achieve and maintain a high level of productivity and professionalism, and the necessary skills to close deals.
  • Analyze the profile of the incoming undergraduate and graduate incoming classes to make strategic shifts, as necessary.
  • Develop and oversee a new student recruitment plan that centers on recruiting to admit and retain undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Remain current in understanding new technology and approaches that can be utilized to increase enrollment.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual enrollment management plan that is consistent with the mission and strategic plan of the College.
  • Develop and manage a multi-year strategy for student recruitment, including travel planning and campus visitation and events.
  • Manage the performance metrics (e.g., # of applications, admits, and deposits) of admissions staff.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure the strategic use of institutional financial aid will achieve the College's enrollment and revenue goals.
  • Analyze data and the current recruitment landscape to inform decision-making and evaluate the current strategy to respond to changing markets and applicant pools.
  • Perform on-going staff evaluations to encourage professional growth, and formally appraise staff annually.
  • Critically evaluate and use data to inform decision-making in planning, implementing, and assessing the College's admissions, recruitment, orientation, and registration practices.
  • Ensure the admissions staff are adhering to and complying with applicable federal, state, and local laws and institutional standard practices, policies, and procedures governing the College's participation in programs and services to students.
  • Advise prospective students, applicants and their families about admissions policies and requirements while accentuating the positive aspects of the College's academic programs and resources.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in the enrollment management, admission, and recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Manage a territory recruitment program, establishing application and enrollment goals by territory and empowering individual admissions staff to develop territorial recruitment strategies for their assigned area.
  • Conduct research on assigned territories and perform analyses of admissions eligibility.
  • Keep admissions staff focused on relationship building with students, parents, counselors, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the budget for the Office of Admissions in compliance with the College's goals and guidelines.
  • Identify needs, tools, and processes to ensure the Office of Admissions' efficient and effective performance.
  • Work collaboratively with academic affairs and other campus service areas to maximize enrollment opportunities for students, evaluating the effectiveness of the student success model and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information communicated to students during the enrollment process.
  • Plan open house programs, registration, and new student orientation activities inclusive of community college/high school visits and private/public programs, including recruitment receptions for geographical markets.
  • Train and coordinate admissions staff, other campus staff, student volunteers and alumni for recruitment programs and the College's telecounseling activities.
  • Convene and lead regular staff meetings, maintaining a culture of collaboration, transparency, and excellence.
  • Oversee hiring, training, coaching and team building for all admissions staff.
  • Provide admissions presentations to visitors during campus daily tours and on-campus and off-campus events.
  • Assist in developing recruitment marketing materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
  • Master's Degree and 7-10 years of progressive employment experience in higher education, working specifically in the enrollment management/admissions area and preferably in a college or university setting (i.e., two (2) years as an associate or assistant vice president of enrollment management or five (5) years as a Director of Admissions or an equivalent combination of the two).
  • Three (3) or more years of direct supervision of admission staff, including both admissions and processing staff.
  • Must possess strong leadership and management skills and the ability to organize and plan effectively to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to travel extensively both in state and out of state and work evenings and weekends.
  • Experience managing admissions, enrollment, orientation, and registration processes.
  • A proven successful recruitment, admissions, and enrollment track-record, consistently meeting established institutional goals.
  • Experience managing and leading admissions staff effectively and strategically, making effective decisions without the need for constant supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the SEVIS system, knowledge of federal student visa regulations and the issuance process of I-20 forms for international students' admission.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with all staffing levels of an institution.
  • Demonstrated experience performing financial and budget oversight and management tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing sales, public relations, marketing, and advertising strategies, including experience with innovative technologies, during the admissions, registration, orientation, and enrollment management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with a wide variety of constituents and investigating and resolving complaints professionally.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating transcripts and applications and making accurate admissions decisions.
  • Knowledge of each stage of the enrollment funnel and what strategies are effective in each.
  • Excellent management, leadership, organizational, problem solving, public relations, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel/Access, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience working with transfer, graduate and nontraditional populations and educational government agencies is a plus.
  • Bilingualism is a plus.
  • Experience using a CRM and Jenzabar is a plus.
