Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student AffairsFull-time; 12 months per yearApplication Deadline: Open Until FilledPriority Screening: August 7, 2024 at 4PM ESTPosition Summary:The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Students Affairs (AVP-EMSA) reports to the President's Chief of Staff. The AVP-EMSA serves as the senior enrollment management and student affairs officer and has primary responsibility for leadership, management, supervision, strategic direction, policy development, and administrative oversight for the following functions: enrollment success center (admissions and initial student advising), records and registration, financial aid, mental health and wellness, accessibility services, student activities, student conduct and athletics. Additionally, the AVP fosters collaboration across college functions and offices to support an integrated enrollment management and student success team.A highly visible organizational leader, this position directs collegewide effort of strategic enrollment planning and plan implementation to achieve enrollment goals, promotes institution-wide recruitment, retention and completion of initiatives, and collaborates with faculty, staff, administration, student organizations, and community groups to ensure all students have access to all resources.The AVP is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team including many services that students rely on to meet their educational needs. The AVP promotes high quality customer service and efficiencies of operation and is a champion for continuous quality improvement. The position ensures accuracy of the student information system (i.e. Ellucian Banner); implements technology enhancements that improve service to students.The AVP works together with colleagues to create a strong sense of accountability across campus and to create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed.Work PerformedCreates, assesses, updates and implements a strategic enrollment management plan that is data informed and aligns with the mission and vision of the college.Defines enrollment management objectives and ensures that they align with the mission and vision of SUNY Ulster.Ensures the college's enrollment goals are met by working in collaboration with other departments including finance, information technology and academic affairs.Works closely with the non-credit area of the College to convert non-credit students to credit students.Ensures a comprehensive student life program.Represents the President's Office in commencement planning.Ensures a welcoming accepting, and fair campus environment.Recommends, develops and implements policies and procedures that promote student success.Handles student issues related to complaints, student conduct, academic dishonesty, and club activities.Serves as a TIX deputy.Serves on President' cabinet.Chairs the Enrollment Management Team.Promotes respect for students, faculty, and staff and recognizes initiative and excellence.Ensures compliance with applicable federal (e.g. Title IV, Title IX) state and local laws, policies and regulations in relation to Board and College policies, including reports as required.Proven leader with the ability to motivate and empower others and build effective teams.Serves on Committees and councils as directed by the President.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Master's degree in education, student personnel development, public relations or related field with a minimum of eight years of progressive leadership experience in college admissions, advising, financial aid, records and registration, disability support services, testing, athletics, student activities, student development, student conduct. Work experience in two or more of these areas is required. Supervision of one area is required. Supervision of two or more areas is preferred.Record of data-informed decision-making with a focus on best practices in enrollment management and leading-edge principles in student development theory.Demonstrated experience developing strategic enrollment management and student success plans.An understanding of and commitment to the mission of two-year colleges.Strong personnel management skills including strategic planning, the ability to manage multiple functions and organize institution resources to meet goals and objectives.Facilitation and conflict resolution expertise sufficient to lead student and employee groups in discussions and timely decision-making.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, statutes. Awareness of law and policy proposals affecting student affairs service areas.Strong knowledge and experience in student enrollment related technology, experience with Ellucian-Banner preferred.Experience conducting investigations regarding student complaints is required.Experience successfully implementing enrollment management strategic initiatives (e.g. Guided Pathways).Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Ability to collaborate with other areas across the college to achieve divisional and college-wide goals.Demonstrates empathetic regard for students.Strong background in customer service to students and to the college community.Demonstrates successful planning, budgeting and supervisory experience.Experience with outcomes assessment and continual improvement of student processes is preferred.Fast-paced, deadline-driven working environment. Concurrent management of numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities. Periodic local and distance travel. Some evenings and weekend hours required.
