Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm but could vary depending on game coverage

What you'll do:

Responsibilities/Duties:

* Proficient in casting and splinting applications and associated procedures.

* Proficient in dressing changes, associated applications, and suture removal.

* Consistently orders and manages casting supplies to ensure adequate inventory.

* Educate patients and caregivers of specific care related to casts, splints, dressings, and durable medical equipment.

* Maintain appropriate levels of casting and splinting supplies.

* Fit patients and give appropriate instruction on a variety of DME.

* Familiar and proficient in Modernizing Medicine EMR and BREG DME.

* Dispensing software systems.

* Knowledgeable and familiar with billing and insurance procedures and can anticipate doctor's and patient's needs while performing on a multi-task level.

* Assists patient care staff with rooming patients and performing vital signs as needed and available.

* Facilitates patient flow by coordinating patient care in a timely and efficient manner.

* Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations.

* Available for potential Ortho Urgent Care evening/weekend coverage as needed.

* Documentation of all patient encounters.

* Coordinate and implement customized preventative strategies and programs tailored to each patient as assigned by Supervising Physician and/or Supervisor.

* Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, and prevention strategies per school protocols.

* Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student-athletes with restrictions or limitations.

* Communicate with Athletic Director as needed, external Physicians, School Nurse if applicable, and Coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes.

* Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures.

* Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

* Available for on-site location at assigned local high school (TBD) for after school coverage for practices & games.

* Available for weekend game coverage at assigned local high schools.

* Capable of assessing injuries and following proper protocols.

* Possesses knowledge of a large range of medical problems.

* Assessment, evaluation skills, and working with other healthcare professionals will be required.

* Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per New York State licensure guidelines and school protocols.

* Possesses strong attention to detail with the ability to thoroughly document and track injuries.

* Excellent Interpersonal Skills required with the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) when talking to student-athletes, the parents/guardians of student- athletes, others on the care team including emergency responders, medical professionals, and school administration/staff.

* Capable of organizing, prioritizing, and performing multiple tasks independently.

* Proficient in onsite care and management of student athlete's injuries including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation.

* Proficiency in assessing the risk of injury, performing ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation, and overall wellness promotion.

* Current Athletic Training Certification

* Current New York State Athletic Training Licensure

* Current CPR and AED certification
