Department:Athletic Training Schedule/Status: 8am-5pm; Full TimeStandard Hours/Week: 40 General Description: Under the direction of the Operations / Site Manager or designee, performs a variety of duties involved in the treatment and prevention of injury and in the care, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletes involved in sports or fitness. Provide athletic training services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician and in accordance with the state of Florida athletic training practice act. May be called on to perform other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities:
- Prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries under the approval of the team physician.
- Provides emergency care within the athletic trainer scope of practice.
- Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the team physician.
- Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest, the varsity football event will supersede.
- Act as a liaison between family physician and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments and sports injuries treated by a physician.
- Develop and maintain a budget for the school athletic training program that is approved by the athletic director.
- Assist in musculoskeletal screening for annual pre-participation sports physicals.
- Maintain a professional, organized, sanitary athletic training room/facility.
- Performs similar, related, or other duties as assigned
Requirements:Formal Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited athletic training program is required: Masters degree in a related sports medicine/healthcare field desired.
Work Experience:
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
- National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA-BOC) Certification is required. Must hold licensure by the Florida Department of Health or be eligible to be licensed in the State of Florida, with license to be obtained within first year of employment & maintained thereafter. BLS for Healthcare Providers is required. ACSM/CSCS certifications desired.
