Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Athletic TrainerDate Posted: 4/23/2024Location: Monroe High SchoolPOSITION ANNOUNCEMENT April 23, 2024 POSITION: Athletic Trainer LOCATION: Monroe High School JOB SUMMARY: The Athletic Trainer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer will promote the health and safety of all participants in school-sponsored athletic activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Current certification by the Georgia Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners;
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an athletic trainer;
  • CPR/AED certification;
  • Experience working with adolescent athletes;
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Ability to lift and carry athletic equipment and assist with athlete mobility;
  • Stamina to work long hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, during peak sports seasons.
  • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establishes and effective athletic training program for high school and middle school athletics;
  • Provides first aid and injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, reconditioning for Dougherty County student athletes; makes appropriate physician referrals;
  • Provides coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season;
  • Coordinates the annual required athletic physicals and supervises the clearance of injured athletes prior to the and during the sport seasons;
  • Maintains a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic healthcare and recommended treatment, rehabilitation for all athletic injuries;
  • Assists coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods;
  • Maintains an effective and efficient athletic training room;
  • Files all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and incidents;
  • Maintains a daily treatment log;
  • Oversees the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up to date inventory; provides the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment;
  • Assists in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads and/or braces;
  • Creates a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks;
  • Shares professional literature relative to athletic training with the school's coaching staff;
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
