- Serves as an integral member of the high school athletic healthcare team.
- Implements strategies for injury and illness prevention, promptly identifying and evaluating injuries, and supporting student-athletes in rehabilitation and reconditioning.
- Communicates with stakeholders including school administrators, coaches, and parents.
- Attends athletic events and practices: provides medical gear and advice, educates athletes on injuries and nutrition, conducts on-field assessments, administers immediate care, coordinates care and referrals, ensures emergency response readiness, offers rehabilitation guidance, maintains athletic training facilities.
- Adheres to professionalism and compliance standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division's policies and practices.
Qualifications: KSA's, EducationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Excellent oral communication and decision making skills. Ability to assume all the duties and responsibilities of the regular athletic trainer.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Bachelor's degree; must hold current certification as an athletic trainer in Virginia by Board of Medicine. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field; two years experience as athletic trainer.
