Support/Hourly - Position - Grounds Maintenance Job Number 000####### Start Date Open Date 04/15/2024 Closing Date ROLE AND PURPOSE: Plan, organize, and maintain all school lawns, athletic fields, playground equipment and exterior facilities as required to meet departmental responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution, preferred.
- Ability to read and understand verbal instructions in English
- Ability to pursue certified applicator's certificate
Experience:
- 1-year experience in grounds maintenance, preferred
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of basic techniques of minor repairs and grounds maintenance
- Ability to operate equipment associated with grounds maintenance.
- Properly handle grounds supplies
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Interprets policy, procedures, and data.
- Coordinates district functions
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to properly operate and maintain a tractor and associated equipment, preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook.
- Maintain and ensure district athletic grounds are safe, neat, and well maintained.
- Apply herbicides as necessary under the observation of the Athletic Grounds Foreman
- Striping and marking of athletic fields for appropriate student activity.
- Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook.
- Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools, and equipment.
- Assume responsibility for personal timecard.
- Maintain preventive maintenance program to ensure health and safety of students and staff.
- Follow applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain department schedules.
- Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures.
- Interaction with other departments
- Maintain neat and clean school grounds and exterior facilities.
- Follow specific duties as required

- Perform other duties as assigned by grounds supervisor
- All other duties within the assigned department or other departments to meet overall district needs.
- Maintain effective and positive public relations with customers and fellow employees.
- Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities.
- Position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities.
- Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and/or any other supervisor within your line of authority.
WORKING CONDITIONS: MENTAL DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Tractor and associated attachments. Mower, edger, cord trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, tiller, sod cutter, electric drill, electric saw, and hand tools.
- Posture: Extended sitting, strenuous walking, standing, occasional climbing, carrying of moderate weight, occasional heavy lifting
- Motion: Strenuous walking and occasional climbing
- Lifting: Regular moderate to heavy lifting and carrying (75 pounds)
- Environment: Maintain neat, clean, and safe exterior facilities and grounds. Will work in, under, around, and outside of all AISD facilities, will be exposed to all outside conditions found in this region of Texas, exposure to dust, chemicals, and other materials and slippery and uneven walking surfaces. Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise.
- Mental Demands: maintain emotional control under stress, with frequent interruptions.
