POSITION TITLE:

Attendance Secretary

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Recruited by: Chief Human Resources Officer

Recommended for appointment by: Principal

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Type of Authority: Staff

Reports to: Principal

Consults with: Forum Staff, Principals, Teachers, Managers, Para-professionals, Parents, general public and students.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Enter all attendance information into computer. This includes absences, late arrivals, early departures, skips, unapproved absences, school business functions and any reason for a student's absence from class. Update information in the computer so the student's absences are correctly reflected in their history file.

2. Issue various passes to students. These include Leave Building Permits , Assistant Principal Permits , and passes to call students up to the attendance office.

3. Write up class cuts (skips) and two-part Attendance Notification form. Separate the forms, distribute appropriately, enter information into the computer.

4. Request, process and mail letters to parents of students who have reached three, four, unexcused and ten excused day letters.

5. Maintain office printer. Change worn ribbon and change paper size according to job requests. Inform IT of maintenance problems which cannot be rectified within the office.

6. Relieve assistant principal's secretary during her break and lunch periods. Perform duties as requested by assistant principals.

7. Print various attendance reports throughout the year as requested by assistant principals, administrators, faculty and staff.

8. File and maintain all notes and forms pertaining to student absences or requests to leave the building.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

10. Demonstrate a commitment to multicultural nonsexist policies and practices.

11.Answer calls pertaining to attendance and redirecting other calls to proper departments.

11. Run daily, weekly, monthly attendance reports.

12. Print daily sub temporary login information for Flexi Manager.

13. Work with Attendance Task Force.

14. Scan and file medical releases.
