Job Summary
The attorney will represent survivors of childhood sexual abuse in civil litigation. In addition to handling cases start to finish, the attorney will be responsible for providing support to survivors. You will handle cases from the very beginning, through the litigation process, to results.
We are seeking a focused, detail-oriented attorney to represent survivors of childhood sexual abuse in civil cases. The ideal candidate will be organized, empathetic, driven, and have a demonstrated ability to handle court appearances and oral arguments, research complex legal questions, manage discovery, and write compelling legal briefs. The ideal candidate must be able to handle a large workload, and effectively communicate with individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
• Communicating with trauma survivors in an empathetic and supportive manner
• Interviewing clients
• Case investigation
• Propounding/responding to discovery
• Legal research
• Drafting motions and complaints
• Conducting depositions, mediations, and trials
• Performing all other tasks necessary from case retention to conclusion
• Contribute to effective work relationships in an effort to maintain a positive and productive work environment
Required Skills/Abilities
• Strong writing, oral, and legal research skills required
• Effective communication style
• Self-starter who is highly organized with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• The ability to independently manage a busy case load, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
• The ability to build and foster client relationships and to accept constructive feedback
• Flexible and open-minded thinker
• Knowledgeable of civil litigation procedures in New York and/or New Jersey
Education and Experience
• Juris Doctorate degree, or equivalent, from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)
• Licensed to practice law in New York and/or New Jersey
• Five or more years of experience required
