Authorization Specialist - Full Time - Nyack Hospital : Job Details

The Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying patients' insurances, as well as their covered benefits and for confirming pre-authorizations for services ordered by providers.QUALIFICATIONSA High School diploma or equivalent required. One years' experience preferred in a healthcare environment or a medical office or hospital setting. A general understanding of medical office procedures, billing, insurance carriers including Medicare and Medicaid preferred. Effectively present information to physicians, physician extender(s), patients, patient family members, and employees of the medical practice. Employee must have basic knowledge of computers and be comfortable documenting information in an electronic health record. Must have experience working with computers; EPIC experience preferred.
