Post Internal Days 0 Category Training Description JOB TITLE: Autism Family Initiative (AFI)Training CoordinatorREPORTS TO: Director of TrainingLOCATION: 34 West 134th St., New York, NY 10037, with responsibilities at satellite offices and residences.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe AFI Training and Support Coordinator supports and leads the learning component of Learn-Connect-Rest, for parents, foster parents and staff.BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The duties of the AFI Training and Support Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:
  • Acts as a champion and culture-bearer for CGS's emerging work supporting children on the autism spectrum and their families; supporting staff awareness and learning around autism
  • Acts as the main point person for all Learn-Connect-Rest parent supports, ensuring delivery and coordination of trainings, and support groups/mentorship
  • Supports the development of trainings and curricula, including in partnership with consultants and community partners; setting annual learning calendars and engaging attendees
  • Delivers or supports trainings; facilitating support groups for parents, including foster parents
  • Researches, connects to, and liaises with a wide range of educational supports in the community for parents, with a focus on culturally-relevant, local, inclusive resources which parents can engage with at all steps of their journey as needed
  • Coordinates parent support and learning activities with relevant staff in Article 29i, Family Permanency Services, Article 31 clinic, Training, Performance Management, Measurement, and Improvement, etc.
  • Works closely with other project staff including the Program Coordinator, PSR Specialist, and others

A copy of the application is to be furnished by the applicant to her/his direct supervisorPosition Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Human Services preferred; 2+ years' professional experience with training and support, educational resource navigation, or adult learning required, ideally with autistic children or similar client population considered in lieu of Master's degree.
  • Deep commitment to autism awareness and family support required; experience (including lived experience) around autism family support or foster care desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in the field of autism spectrum disorder and the ability to direct a broad array of training services to clients and staff at all operational and administrative levels;
  • Proven leaderships abilities, including meeting deadlines, ensuring compliance with agency policy and procedures in accordance with contractual requirements, and involvement in new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated effective inter-departmental project management and coordination;
  • Excellent writing, communication, motivational, organizational, and computer skills required;
  • Ability to travel to New York City sites;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including periodic evenings and weekends;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred.
