Department Facilities - Grounds
Responsibilities - Performs all phases of maintenance required for fleet vehicles operation. Performs complex main engine, engine ignition, fuel system, and engine emission control system diagnosis and repair, to include repair of diesel, gas, and alternative fuel system configurations. Performs complex diagnosis and repair of automatic, standard, and electronic transmission mechanical and control systems, to include standard transmission clutch operating systems, trans-axle and transfer case systems, and all phases of final drive operation. Performs complex diagnosis and repair of various types of suspension, steering, power assist, and alignment systems; diagnoses and repairs various types of brake systems, to include hydraulic systems, disc and drum brake applications, air brake systems, and antilock brake systems operation. Performs complex general electrical and electronic system diagnosis and repair, to include starting and charging systems, electrical wiring systems, gauges and warning systems, and accessory systems, diagnoses and repairs ventilation systems, heat and systems, and mechanical systems. Test drives vehicles. Class E Drivers License Mandatory for hire.
- Maintains records of all repairs and preventative maintenance tasks performed. Operates an Automotive Scan Tool to attain diagnostic trouble codes from a vehicles computerized records when vehicle detects a problem. Utilizes in print and online Automotive Service Manuals for multiple vehicle types and manufacturers to research repairs and solutions. Ability to bend and lift heavy objects in excess of 50 lbs. May perform welding or fabrication work.
- Maintains and cleans garage equipment and tools to ensure they are always kept in a safe and usable condition. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor or higher authority.
Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent and ten years external professional experience.
- ASC certifications required in General G1, Electric A6, Brakes A5, Engine Repair A1.
- A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or ability to obtain upon hire.
