What We Need
We are looking for Automation Maintenance Specialists at all experience levels. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and calibrating our cutting-edge automated and robotic systems, which include automated adapters, vertical lifts, and our fleet of robotic vehicles. As a Maintenance Technician, you will become an expert in all aspects of the system, including mechanical, PLC, electrical, and electronic subsystems.
What We Do
Our Automation Maintenance team is part of the Customer Operations organization, dedicated to managing the day-to-day operations of Symbotic's robotic material handling systems. We strive for operational excellence by collaborating with our onsite customers to maintain top-tier quality, safety, and performance.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform inspections on systems associated with automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/Lifts.
- Ensure continuous operations by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, or modifying system components.
- Monitor the flow of our automated storage and retrieval systems to maximize throughput.
- Troubleshoot anomalies and stoppages using schematic diagrams and advanced test equipment.
- Conduct thorough documentation of all maintenance actions via our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding production-impacting issues and corrective actions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas after repairs.
- Perform minor utility tasks, such as machining and aligning sensors.
- Support robotic arms through calibration and setup as needed.
- Adhere to 5S policies and continuous cleaning protocols.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by leadership.
What You'll Need
- An associate degree or certification in electronics, automotive, automation, or equivalent experience preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with mechanical automation systems or relevant education/training.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret electro-mechanical diagrams.
- Experience operating and maintaining automated systems.
- Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and operation.
- Proficiency in inspection functions and ability to work independently.
Our Environment
- Prepare to navigate steep stairs and work at heights of up to 45 feet.
- Work in varying environmental conditions, including temperatures of 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required in construction areas.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs independently and manage items up to 80 lbs.
- Stand and walk for long periods; repeated motion using hands and feet is essential.
